We have been asked by RI PBS to assist them in the upcoming pledge drive on March 10. We are in need of 10 volunteers (would be great to have 5 men and 5 women) to work the telephone bank during the PBS presentation of “Great Scenic Railways”. The guest host for the evening will be the author/director of this program. SIMO will even be interviewed briefly.
PBS would like us to arrive at their television station in Providence by 6:45 PM. They will provide us with a light supper at 7:00 (generally pizza or sandwiches) and we will get a training period on the telephones at 7:30. The LIVE broadcast will begin at 8:00 and we will be accepting pledges by telephone from viewers. The broadcast that evening will be a LIVE feed; however, the show is also going to be taped and will be repeated at different time blocks throughout the month. This will provide SIMO with additional exposure to viewers who were unable to watch the LIVE broadcast.
If you are interested in volunteering, we would like you to wear your SINGLES IN M’OCEAN sweatshirts or T-shirts. If you do not have one, we likely will have members that will be happy to let you borrow one, or, if you would like to purchase your own in advance (whether you volunteer or not), you can get all the information by going to the SIMO website (www.simo-ri.org) and clicking on “EXTRAS” at the top of the menu, then clicking on SIMO STORE” for the selection of goods available, pricing and where to send your inquiry to. There is more than one page of the “STORE” so be sure to view ALL the pages.
PLEASE volunteer whether you have SIMO attire or not! It is NOT mandatory to wear SIMO articles of clothing.
Respond by: March 6, 2010.
We anticipate great interest so once we have reached the 10 volunteer mark, we will automatically put people on a “wait list” in the order in which they respond. This will provide us with a “back-up” in the event someone has to cancel.
